Triggering SharePoint Designer Workflows from the Content Organizer in SharePoint 2010
Update: Paul Barton has written a great post on how to get around this located here. Well worth checking out if you need to solve this issue.
I have had a couple of people question me about why workflows don’t seem to be firing when items are moved into a document library using the Content Organizer.
The situation is that you create a document library, create a SharePoint Designer workflow and get it to start when a new item is created:
In theory what should occur is that the workflow should be started when the item is moved from the Drop Off library to the specified location.
Well unfortunately it doesn’t
The reason is that this is an issue with the current release of SharePoint, you can find out some more information here.
I am going to find out if it will be in SP1 that was announced recently but if you are pulling your hair out then don’t worry you aren’t going crazy!
